Acupuncture works by balancing energy flow throughout the body. There is an ancient saying in Chinese medicine stating that “If there is no free flow, there is pain; if there is free flow, there is no pain”. The beauty of Traditional Chinese Acupuncture lies in having many different treatment options. There are as many as 2000 acupuncture points in the human body to choose from. Your acupuncture practitioner will determine the root cause of your complaint and address it using various acupuncture points located throughout the body (most commonly used acupuncture points are located on the limbs/ back).
After assessing you and discovering the root cause of your complaint, your acupuncture practitioner will insert sterile, disposable needles in the acupoints located throughout the body. You will then be asked to rest with the needles in for a period of 25-30 minutes. If needed, other modalities of Traditional Chinese medicine might be used, such as cupping/ Tui Na (Chinese form of bodywork/ massage), Auricular (ear seed placement) therapy.
Each one of us’s health conditions, lifestyle and diet, amount of triggers vary. Therefore, 2 people with the same complaint might take different amount of time to improve/ heal from their condition. Chronic conditions may take longer to resolve and might require treatments on a continuous basis. Acupuncture treatment is not a miracle and works with your own energy, reminding the body how to heal itself.
